Callie the Protector

 Oh sweet girl!
For the past 6 years we have spoiled you rotten and loved on you. You were our first baby that we raised together.Over these last 9 months you have been snuggling every chance you can get.
I know you can tell that soon we will be a family of 4.
The baby will be part of our pack and I know you will protect him at all costs.
You have waited for him so patiently.
Be his protector

Nursery

Here are a few photos of the nursery for Baby Philip.

Kelly's brother, Ben, made this custom bookshelf for the room. What a perfect fit to store all those children's books we have received from our family & friends!
All we need now is our precious little baby.

38 weeks

I have visited the OB a few times and the results were scary.
My blood pressure has skyrocketed and isn't decreasing.
The doctor has decided that for the safety of the baby and I, it is best to schedule an appointment for me to be induced on Thursday, March 24th.  I am upset that I am only 38 weeks pregnant and will not be able to carry our son until 40 weeks. However, the only thing that matters to us is that he be born.
Please send prayers for a healthy labor & delivery.

37 weeks

These days I really "feel" pregnant. What I mean is, these days my belly feels heavy and I am starting to have backaches. Don't even get me started on my feet, they are so swollen that I can only wear flip flops. Luckily I know that we will meet our sweet boy.
My wonderful sister-in-laws threw us a super sweet Baby-Q Shower.
Philip's cousins told us they can't wait to meet him!
We ate a delicious BBQ spread from Jim 'N Nicks
Look at these adorable cookies Becca made for the shower!
Sweet Hattie and Kate were all dressed up for the occasion.
It wouldn't have been a shower without a diaper cake and pacifiers.
I am sure we will go through all those diapers in no time.
Kelly and I are so blessed and looking forward to meeting our little miracle.
Thank you to our family and friends who joined us to celebrate. Our village is ready to welcome Philip Ashton into this world.

Maternity Photos

I decided to try and take a few maternity photos with my camera, tripod and remote.
After numerous failed attempts, I was able to capture some good moments.
My dear friend Ashley who is a professional photographer was able to edit the photos and add her touch.

I absolutely LOVE how these turned out.
Now only if I could get my hubby to stand in for a few photos...

36 weeks

I had my 36 week appointment with Dr. Gummer this week.
He was pleased with my belly measurements but not my blood pressure and swollen feet.
Prior to pregnancy it was common for my diastolic (lower number) to be slightly high. At this appointment the nurses had to check my blood pressure 3x while I was at there. The doctor said high blood pressure is an early sign of preeclampsia so I needed to start taking it easy.
Doctor's orders- start working from home as much as I can and put my feet up!
Before I can totally relax there was 1 item that I wanted us to check off our to do list- Childbirth class. Kelly was a trooper and headed over to Northside with me to listen to a nurse go over the different birthing positions and what to expect at the hospital.
This week my belly has dropped. Our baby boy is getting ready to make his arrival.

Slingshot

Now that the Donges kiddos are getting older its more difficult to think of presents for them.
Toys are great but they often break, money is nice but its impersonal..but an outing with Uncle Toe and Aunt Jen is guaranteed to gain some smiles.
A new indoor entertainment arena opened up in Norcross called Slingshot.
They have interactive bowling, go-karting, a ti-level kids mega play areas and an indoor ninja obstacle course.
There was lots of bouncing
running
climbing
balancing
falling... and NO TEARS!
Arcade games were a great way to pass the time.
Pick our some prizes from all our tickets.
Who wants to go go-karting?!?!
Ben and Charlie geared up for the ride.
Chooch was a little too short to go for a spin but he was alright hanging with Uncle Toe watching his big brother drive around the track.
I may have been anxious the entire time watching the Donges boys every move hoping they would fall or cry. Everything was great! There were definitely laughs about turd burgers and farts on the ride home. If this is what having boys is like I am sure in for it.

35 weeks

Kelly has the best co-workers EVER!!!
They contacted me a week ago and asked if I could stop by the office for a surprise baby shower.
It was tough to keep a secret from Kel but he totally worth the look on his face as he arrived at his "meeting".
Kel has worked with a great group for the past 4 years.
 Yummy cake to celebrate!
Along with some fun baby shower games and extremely generous gifts.
Thank you Regions team!
