Rain rain go away

It has been dreary in Atlanta these past few weeks.
No sun, just cloudy days with some rain and bone-chilling wind.
The house is set to a frigid 64 degrees, I don't think I will ever get use to living in a cold house. I tend to hibernate in January & February, its tough to get me out of the house. I'm not alone, the hubby and pup sure love to snuggle on the couch.
Luckily a work trip to sunny Los Angeles, California was scheduled.
I got to spend a few days with my girlfriends, Aimee and Ashley.
Who wouldn't want to live on the beach and have a tan year-long.
While I was out on the West Coast, I workout everyday, ate well and walked over 14,000 steps a day. So obviously, I thought it was fine to join my brother, Reg, for a HIIT workout. One and done. Never again will I subject myself to such grueling pain- just kidding. I am proud to say I finished the entire workout. However, my muscles were sore for the next week or two. I laughed at myself on the plane ride home because it hurt to lift my arms to adjust the air vent and turn on/off the overhead light.
Sadly enough  Kel wasn't able to join me on this trip instead he spent the long weekend having fun in Athens with the Nyquists.

Builder Ben made us an awesome barn door, while Kel supervised.
Can't wait to add some stain and hang it up in our house! More updates to come.

Happy New Year!

Every year seems to be a busy year for us. Kel and I are always doing something: a home improvement project, traveling, working and being on the go. In 2014 we traveled, attended some awesome weddings, sold our first home, moved to Alpharetta and lived through a major renovation. We have had an amazing year!

I can’t forget about CREW Leadership, what an amazing experience. If I have learned anything from this past year, it is that I need to take care of myself so I have the strength to do everything else. I have so many dreams and aspirations that I get caught up in getting from point A to point B and not enjoying the journey getting there.

2015 will be…

the year I become a morning person and start each day with a cup of coffee in my quiet house instead of rushing into the office, fighting traffic and feeling stressed. The year I keep journaling and peeling back layers of my life so I can learn from my past so I can excel in my future. The year I acknowledge accomplishments and mini-successes and celebrate instead of rushing to the next big idea/goal. Continue to use my time, talent and treasure for good. But also say no to commitments that don’t serve my values instead of saying yes to everything.

The year I create a healthy lifestyle for Kelly, Callie and myself. I’m not saying we are going gluten-free, becoming vegans or doing anything drastic. I will kick habits that don’t serve me well and implement routines to make our lives a little healthier: meal planning, exercise routines, going to bed without looking at my phone, no Netflix TV series binge watching, and mainly living purposefully.

Be Authentic. Be Purposeful. Be Well.
